The Couch Assassin Team

Believe it or not, there's no such thing as a paid Couch Assassin. We're all in it for the love of Ottawa's creative community and our desire to help make this city an ever more interesting place to live. Meet the volunteers who feed the blog, manage the calendar listings and generally keep the site running so the good people of Ottawa have a place to go to learn about everything that's going on around town! If you like what we're doing, please "Like" our Facebook page -- you'll get first dibs on ticket giveaways and news about what's coming up around Ottawa. There's a "Like" button in the sidebar on the right of your screen, or below if you're on a mobile device.

I get bored easily. I need fun stuff to do and interesting people to meet or else I go a little nuts. I play in a band, I go to shows, and I do some volunteering for cultural events and projects around town. Ottawa has generally provided me with plenty to do -- but not without some effort. That's why we built Couch Assassin, to make life easier for Ottawa's party people.

I’d been wanting to build an events calendar website for years, but teaming up with Lisa was the missing ingredient. Turns out she had pretty much the same...

Couch Assassin Co-Founder

It's amazing what you can come up with when you are friendless and unemployed.  I moved to Ottawa in 2009 and wanted to meet creative people and go to fun events.  At first I thought the city had no culture, but I soon found out that lots of great events happen, it's just hard to find out about them.  So I made an event listing spreadsheet, a bad one. Then I met Daniel and he turned it into a way better event listing website and here we are.

The name Couch Assassin was born from hearing one too many times "I wanted to...

Promotions Manager

One day, seemingly ages ago, Andrew stumbled across Couch Assassin while Googling mentions of his band, Celery Troff. He must have liked what Lisa had written about them, because he got in touch and offered to help. It wasn't long before he became Couch Assassin's one-man street team, spreading the good word hither and thither. Much goodness followed.

Andrew has a Bachelor of Awesome from Starfleet Academy, and can often be found in his spare time twiddling...

Associate Editor

For over 10 years, I’ve been lucky to call Ottawa home. I fell in love with the city when I was 13 years old, and I haven’t looked back.

Writing is one of my passions. For some reason, it took me a while to figure out that I should be writing about what I love: arts and culture! Since then, it’s been my mission to write about the cool shows and events that are happening in the city on my blog. What can I say? Ottawa’s been good to me, so I’m returning the favour!

I decided to enter the world of blogging because I have a new age dream. Well, two to be exact. The first is to do my part to shine a light on the incredible talent that is peppered throughout our nation’s capital; and the second is to use my witty ramblings to help earn enough money for me to purchase a cape. That last dream is not only an ode to a failed superhero show on NBC, it's also foreshadowing a huge fashion trend. Everyone will be all about capes in 2022. You read it here. In the meantime, I'll be profiling the latest and greatest from the 6-1-3. Come say hi to me at shows, I'll be... Read More
